May/june 2020

After the wettest winter I can remember, April and May have turned out to be the driest period on record!  Which has been great for getting the studio up and running, however there have been a number of hold ups due to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent "lock down" of businesses in the UK. I have therefore had to wait for long periods for certain materials and labour to finish completely. As I write this I am still awaiting the arrival of my new kiln. But I have been putting my time to good use, and have steadily got my shelves built and filled ready for an organised start. Still not fully there yet, however, I can see light at the end of the tunnel now! Cant wait to get making.

Mid June 2020

I heard this week that the kiln is on its way from Germany! Yay, so excited now. Hope we can arrange a dry day for its delivery, as it will be quite a task getting it from the front of t the house to the rear and then installed. In the meantime, I have been adding shelves, organizing raw materials and sorting old clay for reclaiming etc. As soon as kiln in, I will be able to start wedging and making.
